Obituary of Carolyn Ann Holt
Carolyn Ann Holt, 84, of State College, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born May 5, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late O.H. Samuel Falck and Flora (Geiselhart).
Carolyn graduated from the Pennsylvania State University. Her early teaching career was at Mars area High School. She then taught 10th grade biology at State College Area High School, retiring after 23 years.
Carolyn was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the choir for almost sixty years. She also enjoyed playing the autoharp for the 5:00 evening service and playing hymns on her parlor grand piano. She was an avid crafter, enjoying soap sculpture, wood carving, rug braiding, and wreath making with her creative community of friends. Carolyn was a member of the University Women's Club Wednesday hikers and the Tuesday Senior hikers' group. She volunteered at soup kitchens, and enjoyed biking and playing farkle with her friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving partner Martin Grieco. She is survived by her children from her marriage to James Holt (deceased), Ann Elisabeth Holt (Hisseine Djandabri) and Jim Holt (Amber); five grandchildren, Gabriel Sebastien, Simone Carolyn, James Samuel, Evan John, and Eldjima Susan; two siblings, O.H. Samuel Falck (Linda), and Linda F. Paluzzi; niece Ellen Fowkes, nephew Samuel H. Falck, sister-in-law Susan Holt. She is survived by her loving Grieco family as well.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
Memorial service will be at 11 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Ave, State College, with Father Jeffrey A. Packard officiating.
Entombment will be in St. Andrew's Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Ave, State College, PA 16801.
