I was very saddened to hear of A.J.s passing, and my thoughts are with his family . I was fortunate enough to have A.J. as my guest poet /author during Right to Read week for many years. My students and I always delighted in his many stories and his poetry usually got a good laugh. He would patiently answer the many questions that were asked of him whether it was about writing , publishing, or career choices he made . The students always learned a lot . A.J. was kind, talented and a true prince among men . My condolences to his family , and I know he will be missed .

My deepest sympathies to A.J.'s family. I attended law school with A.J. at the University of Dayton and remained his friend throughout his time in Dayton. A.J. also came to my wife's first-grade class at Northmoor Elementary School to read some of his writings. A.J. was a kind and loving person.

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear of AJ's passing. I knew AJ in high school, and worked with him for several summers during my high school years at Heinrich Swimming pool in our hometown of Beaver Falls PA. He was a lifeguard, and I worked in the concession stand. He was always friendly and smiling. My dad (who was friends with AJ's dad Sam), coached AJ in basketball as a child - at both St. Mary's Catholic grade school and with the Beaver Falls recreation department. To the Wagner family - you have my sympathy in this difficult time. I hope the fond memories you have of your husband, father, grandfather, and brother help you through the days ahead.

I worked with AJ when he was on the Kidney Foundation Board in Dayton many years ago. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was such a friendly caring person. AJ also helped me with a problem I had when he was county auditor. My sincere condolences to his family.
