Obituary of Wilford Fry
Wilford Brooks Fry passed away on February 10,2012 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. He was born in Altoona, PA on July 10,1930 to William Brooks and Gladys Barto Fry. On September 13, 1952 he married the former Barbara Ellen Snyder who survives at home. Wilford is a graduate of the State College Area High school. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a gunner with Patrol Squadron 741/16. He spent six months of the year in Malta and then at different ports in Africa. He received the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his discharge he began working for Sate Gas and Oil Company and worked 40 years retiring in 1994. Wilford is a member of the American Legion Post 245 and the VFW Post __ . He is a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed PSU sports and lots of time at any beach and especially watching his grandchildren play sports. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Thomas Brooks Fry, his wife Barbara of Boalsburg, a son Ronald Alan Fry and his wife Brenda of State College and a daughter LouEllen and her husband Timothy Michel of Lutherville, MD., Also surviving are grandchildren: Laura Brook and Matthew Thomas Fry, Zachariah Burris, Elijah Wilford and Lydia June Fry, Olivia Anne and Andrew Brooks Michel. Also surviving is his brother Francis Fry and his wife Lois of Dallas, PA and a sister in law, Jane S. Kunes of State College. He was preceded in death by a sister Sarah Ann Dreibelbis. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Elaine Moyer officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
