Obituary of Harriet Louise Sprankle

Harriet Louise Sprankle, 84, of Boalsburg, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born October 12, 1938 in Pine Grove Mills, she was the daughter of Walter D. Johnson and Edna Sunday. She married James Thomas Sprankle, on December 24, 1955, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Samantha L. Hartman and her husband, Jesse, of Lemont; a sister, Connie Novotka, of Mesa, Arizona; one grandson, Kyle T. Hartman and his wife, Ashley; and one great-grandchild, Sawyer Hartman.

Harriet was a graduate of Pine Grove Mills High School. She worked as a sales clerk for various department stores throughout her career, including Woolworth, Hills (28 years) and Target (9 years) before her retirement.

She loved to garden, especially tending to her rose bushes. Family meant everything to her and she cherished spending time with her grandson, Kyle and great-grandson, Sawyer.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.

Burial will be at 11 a.m., on Friday, December 2, 2022 in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harriet Louise Sprankle Memorial Fund, C/O First National Bank, 1480 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801.
