Dr. Draguns was my therapist for six years and provided immeasurable support and aid in gaining insight while helping with my challenging family situation. He generously continued to see me even after retirement, at the PSU psychology center and afterwards even at his home office. His example not only as an outstanding therapist and human being, helped lift me up and continues to. Besides his therapeutic help, I benefited from sharing his passion for cross-cultural psychology and multiple languages (incredibly, among his other achievements, he even lectured in other languages, two of which I shared with him but with far less mastery - Russian and German, if I recall correctly). Juris Draguns was a remarkable man as I was privileged to have known him - as a scholar, linguist, author, teacher and perhaps most of all, as a pillar of kindness. I will forever remember him with gratitude for having known him and for his endless compassionate support. My sons too bless his memory. As the first anniversary of his passing approaches, I send my renewed condolences to his surviving family who must feel a renewed pang at this painful time. As we say in Judaism, his memory is indeed a blessing to the world he graced.

Many years ago in Denver visiting Julie and Norris I was assigned the privilege of escorting Marie and Juris to the Art Museum. I have never forgotten that afternoon together. I have thought of Dr Draguns many times since I took his a Abnormal psychology class in the late eighties. I was a ‘returning older student’ majoring in psychology at Penn State. It was my most favorite class and of all my professors I remember and enjoyed his class the most of any of my courses.

We are so very sorry for your loss. I was secretary for Juris and others in the Psychology Department at PSU from 70's thru 86. Juris was a brilliant scholar and wonderful man who treated all with kindness and respect. He will be remembered with love.
