I'm sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I was a Finance Officer at Penn State and Ed was my boss from 1970 until he retired. He was a good boss and treated everyone fairly. Please extend my sympathy to the entire family.

So much to say about my stepDad Ed who was in my life since I was about 6. He was always someone to respect. He was serious when that was appropriate but definitely knew how to have fun. And those closest to him knew his soft compassionate side as well. He had a joke to tell or a poem to recite when in the mood to entertain. How he remembered all of that I do not know. Ask his grandsons about his ‘old Indian tricks’ or ‘Dagas Mines’ sayings. - those were aplenty as well! He enjoyed teaching or advising the young people in his life particularly nephews and grandsons and me. His Catholic faith and his family were of utmost importance. He had many many long lasting friendships. Most whom met him instantly liked him and formed a bond. He loved playing tricks on people, some of which continued for decades with the ‘victim’ exchanging the favor! He and Mom enjoyed their life together and beautifully balanced each other out. He enjoyed his time hunting and fishing, and together they enjoyed traveling, going to their camp, and being with family and friends. His grandsons treasure the memories and have said the time spent with him was formative to their lives in many ways. Oh how I will miss this man but am so thrilled that he will be together again with Mom whom he missed so much, my brother, and my son. My prayer is that I will honor him in all I do going forward.

Beautifully written, Cindy. My heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family. Ed and your mother were a delightful couple…….. i’m sure you find great comfort knowing they are together once again. We became acquainted with them on a Caribbean cruise (as you might recall). Their infectious warmth and fun loving demeanor will remain with me forever. Take care, Elaine Witter

Carol and I are sad to hear of Ed's passing. We knew Ed from our time together in the Nittany Valley Bird Dog Club. Ed acquired one of my English Setter pups many years ago and later consented to a breeding with a female in my kennel. Ed was most gracious throughout the process. Ed had a passion for bird hunting, and I will miss sharing that with him. Bill Sharpe

Thank you so much for sharing that! He did indeed love bird hunting and his 2 dogs Pepper and Jake. He never got a third dog because he feared the dog would outlive him and it wouldn’t be fair to the dog. He missed having a dog so much and not being able to hunt in the same way once ge got older.
