Obituary of Marjorie Jean Shaffer Rohrbeck
Marjorie Jean Shaffer Rohrbeck, 90, of State College, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Glenmaura Senior Living in Moosic.
Born April 14, 1932, in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Atherton) Shaffer. On June 20, 1953, she married Edwin Rohrbeck, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two children, James Frederick Rohrbeck and his wife, Michelle, of Moosic, and Patricia Stepler and her husband, Larry, of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Rachael Stepler Cannon, Renee Stepler Shaffer and her husband, Eric, Daniel Stepler, Kerry Rohrbeck, and Michael Rohrbeck, and a great-granddaughter, McKynzie Cannon.
Marjorie graduated from Forty Fort High School and obtained a bachelor degree in Home Economics from Penn State University and a master's degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University. She was a third grade teacher at Fermanagh-Mifflintown Elementary School in the Juniata County School District.
Marjorie was a member of Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church and a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mifflintown. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators. She was also a member of the Lady Lion Cager Club and enjoyed supporting the Penn State Women's Basketball organization.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10-11a.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Christopher Passante officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church.
