Obituary of Sara Berg Kennedy

Sara Berg "Sally" Kennedy, 84, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at home.

Born April 1, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Henry Aloysius and Melissa McGeary Berg. On Sept. 26, 1959 she married William D. Kennedy, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary W. Kennedy of Arlington, VA and Stuart M. Kennedy and his wife, Geralyn, of Hazelton; a son in-law, David Swan of State College; four sisters, Nancy Truby and her husband, David, of Indiana, Patricia Fishbein of Selinsgrove, Mary Jo Heiser and her husband, Robert, of State College, Barbara Anderson and her husband, Gerald, of Monroeville; a sister in-law, Rita Berg of State College, PA; three granddaughters, Lisa, Caitlin and Emily Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Richie and Avianna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracey Lynne Swan, on July 11, 2022 and her brother, Hugh M. Berg.

Sally was a 1956 graduate of State College High School. In 1992, she retired from Centre Community Hospital as a Medical Technologist.

In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and served as the past president of the Centre Pieces Quilt Guild. She was an avid golfer and volunteered for the Bellefonte Victorian Christmas gingerbread house contest and display.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
