Obituary of William Blaine Fisher
William "Bill" Fisher, 87, of Boalsburg, PA, died Sunday May 28, 2023 at his home.
Born July 6, 1935 in Etna, PA, he was the son of William Wahl Fisher and Mabel Irene (Rush) Fisher. He married May Killen on March 3, 1962, who survives at home. He is survived by Meg Doerzbacher of Williamsville NY, and Lori Forman of Hampton, VA; six Grandchildren, and 3 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Ethel Mae Kelly of Pensacola, FL and Nancy Stiles of Leonardtown, MD. He was preceded in death by his son Blaine.
He was a graduate of Etna High School, and attended Thiel College for 3 semesters. He then served in the US Army from 1958-1964.
He retired from Cerro Metals as a machinist and SCASD as a school bus driver. Bill was a member of the Boalsburg Fire Co., Battery "B" 3rd PA Volunteers Civil War Reenactment Group, and State College Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed history, Bible study, fixing and building things. He loved his Lord, his family, friends, pets, and the outdoors.
A Service of Celebration of the Life of Bill Fisher and Witness to the Resurrection will be held at State College Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 5, at 3 PM. In addition, a Memorial Service will be at the Boalsburg Fire Co. on Tuesday, June 6 at 4 PM. The burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Pittsburgh. Date TBD.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boalsburg Fire Company in honor of Bill Fisher.
