Obituary of Bessie Marie Wrenn
Bessie Marie Wrenn, 94, of State College, PA, died Friday, June 30, 2023, at Juniper Village at Brookline in State College, PA.
Born December 10, 1928, in Fairhaven, MA, she was the daughter of the late George Elliott and Florence (Morse) Elliott. On October 6, 1956 in Fairhaven, MA, she married Gordon Pember Wrenn, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two children, Peter Lewis Wrenn of Simpsonville, SC and Douglas Christopher Wrenn of Broadlands, VA.
She was a 1946 graduate of Fairhaven High School in Fairhaven, MA.
Bess worked at Teledyne in New Bedford during WWII producing electronics for the war effort. She met Gordon at Lincoln Amusement Park in Dartmouth, MA during one of the popular "dance nights".
Bess was a long-time member of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. Her embroidery art has been shown at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and other festivals, shows, and museums in State College and surrounding areas.
Bess was also an avid duckpin, candlestick, and 10-pin bowler for many decades. She bowled at both Centre Lanes and Armenara Lanes in State College. Later in life she was a regular at Northland Bowl & Recreation Center in the Tuesday and Wednesday Coffee leagues and continued to bowl into her 80's.
Following her husband's retirement, she continued to enjoy her time with family and friends and her passion for embroidery, word puzzles, and reading.
The family would like to thank the staff and administrators at Juniper Village at Brookline for their caring for, and love towards Bess for the past three years.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
