Obituary of Grace L. Baker
Grace L. Baker, 85, of State College, died Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Juniper Village At Brookline.
Born April 17, 1938, in McAlevys Fort, she was the daughter of the late Clair Ellis and Margaret Harris Lightner. On May 31, 1972 she married Allen L. "Tim" Baker, II, who preceded her in death on April 28, 1987.
She is survived by her step-son, Randall A. "Randy" Baker, of State College. She was preceded in death by three siblings, George E. Lightner on September 1, 2015 and his wife Helen Gates Lightner of Bedford, Donald E. Lightner on August 10, 1998, and Betty Butler on January 30, 2005.
Grace graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1956. She immediately started work at The Spudnut Shop in State College before moving on to a career in the electronics world where she worked for Alvo Electronics and University Electronics for over 30 years.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ. She and her husband enjoyed week-ends at the old Raystown Dam in Huntingdon and assisted in the restoration of trolley cars at the Rockhill Trolley Museum in Orbisonia. She loved her cats, especially, Tiger and Tony.
