My wife and I are so very saddened to learn of Jim's passing. We worked together at the PPG Tipton plant in the early '80s where he become a mentor and friend to me for the rest of my PPG career and into retirement. He helped nurture my horrible golf game and sold to me my first set of really good golf clubs, which were his as he was upgrading to an even better set!! A true professional within PPG and a leader in the HR function that made a positive impact to the people and organization wherever he was working. We express our deepest condolences to the entire Baird family. We will remember him and keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

My name is Peter Garber. I worked for PPG in Human Resources for 34 years. Jim hired me as an HR Trainee in Cumberland, MD. Jim was very supportive and helpful to me during this time and also as I transferred to an HR position in Marshall, MN. Ironically , 33 years later in 2014 Jim hired me to for an HR Director position in Shelby, SC. During my transition to this new position I learned I had cancer and needed to go on disability. Jim was fantastic to me during this time in my life helping me receive disability benefits and did everything he could to help me. He would call me from time to time to check on me for the first year of my disability until he retired. He was just a great guy and I am very sad to hear of his untimely passing. My condolences to all of his family.
