Obituary of Donna Jean Cattell

Donna Jean Cattell, 75, of State College, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at home.

Born August 5, 1948, in Kittanning, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Josephine Jasenski Fennel. On July 2, 1968 she married Nathan C. Cattell, who survives.

She is survived by three children, Danielle Howard of Jacksonville, FL, Kenyan Cattell of State College, Sarah Shaffer and her husband, Robert, of Coraopolis, PA; two sisters, Barb Aftanas of Richland, WA and Beverly Fennel of Lower Burrell, PA; and three grandchildren, Ayana Cattell, Lana Shaffer and Kyle Shaffer.

Donna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Penn State University in 1969.

Donna was never one to be idle. She organized the first recycling program in State College which has evolved into the program it is today. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, helping others in need, and working on crossword puzzles.
