I thought Helen would live forever. She’s one of those special few. Helen made me feel seen at the tender age of 19. I thought I was a nobody. She saw a courageous young woman. She saw an actor, stage manager and ultimately a director. Because of her I left Penn State and moved to Seattle knowing only two people out there. She pushed me. She believed in me. She was and continues to be a gift to so many of us. I will miss you Helen. I am so grateful our paths crossed.

I only knew Helen through my parents, Barney and Emily McCormick, at the Village at Penn State. I can remember how excited they both were when the theatrical calendar of residents was made through Helen’s efforts. She became our friend through my mom and dad, always greeting us with smiles and hugs. Since my parents have passed, I have seen her several times, and she always remembered our friendship. I salute you, Helen, as you brought joy to so many. God bless you and your family. Sincerely, Cindy McCormick Miceli, Mechanicsburg, PA.

A Condolence
There are two of many answers to the question. How do we honor the significant life of Helen Manfull?
When Helen sensed an injustice, she demonstrated the pluck and spunk of a strong storm in organizing folks
to take action. When Helen sensed that a person had concerns, she had the empathy of a soft warm breeze when she
listened with such compassion.
Helen’s life is best understood as the theme of one of her favorite plays,”Our Town.”All lives are to be appreciated
and honored.
With Applause,
Linda Kelley & David Porter

Helen was a dear, sweet lady whom I had the privilege of meeting while visiting at the Village at Penn State. She was always bright and cheerful, lending laughter and kindness to every dinner table. Her memory will be treasured and she will be greatly missed.

Helen was the sole reason I chose to go to Penn State. I met her on my interview day, fell immediately in love with her smarts, humor, passion for theatre and commitment to education. She was more than inspiring, she was life changing and life shaping. I'll be forever grateful for her impact on my career trajectory and will miss knowing she is in this world with us. But I know she'll be on the other side - lighting up a room and teaching everyone through love and laughter. xx, Jess Weiner, PSU class of 1995
