Obituary of Andrew John Hopkins
Andrew John Hopkins, 27, of Spring Mills, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023.
Born June 6, 1996, in Media, he is the son of John Michael and Darlene (Zupetic) Hopkins. On October 2, 2021 he married his beloved wife Nicole (Bonsell) Hopkins, who survives.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Clara Wren Hopkins. He is also survived by his grandmothers Janet Hopkins and Norma Zupetic, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Andrew graduated from Malvern Prep High School and Penn State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Resource Management, and a Minor in Watersheds and Water Resources. Following graduation, he worked for the PA Fish and Boat Commission as a Fish Culturist. He assisted with trout reproduction, raising, harvesting, and stocking of local streams.
His love for the outdoors and wildlife conservation was a large part of his personal life. He was a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society, PA Trout Unlimited, and The Nature Conservancy. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, birding, and exploring natural habitats.
Andrew loved collecting books, coins, stained glass, and cigars. He was very knowledgeable about a wide array of things including wine, mushrooms, teas, plants, and bees, just to name a few. Andrew loved his family most of all. He was an incredible husband and a wonderful father to his 9 month-old daughter.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A Catholic Mass will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 867 Grays Woods Blvd, State College with Father Jozef Kovacik officiating.
