Lucy & Campanis family, I just now saw Dino's obituary. I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved brother, Dino. Although I did not know him personally, my late cousin, Miffie Houtz, always liked him so much. He accomplished many wonderful things in hs lifetime & had an abundance of friends. May god bless you all & bring you peace. Rest in peace, Dino.

To the daughters, sisters, brother and other family of Dino Campanis: What a wonderful man Dino was/is! I was one of his regular customers at his shoe shop. He kept me going by making me orthotics and selling me great shoes. He was always so pleasant, friendly and kind. I was just in the shop for my latest pair of shoes March 15th. He was a blessing to the community and to me. God bless you all, and hold you up as you mourn. He will be very missed!

Dino's dad was my shoemaker...then Dino became my shoemaker...then Dino became my friend...then Dino became my son's friend...then Dino became a friend to all the members of my son's Army Ranger and Special Forces units while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan through his very special work with Operation Shoebox...then we all paused to remember what a true friend we have lost.

I will miss Dino. I lived in Chicago seven years ago and was referred by a State College friend to Dino due to plantar fasciitis. The doctors I saw in Chicago could not help me get better. Even though I was young, I had trouble walking for over a year. Within three weeks of working with Dino, I started getting better. Within six months, I was completely healed. Dino was also a marvelous person. I know thousands of people in Michigan, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Dino was one of the best people I ever had the pleasure to meet. Just talking to him made your day better. I would stop by his shop in Bellefonte to say hi and would always leave with a more positive attitude. Dino used to call me "The Chicago Guy". "The Chicago Guy" will miss you.

From the moment I met Dino, it was easy to see why my wife and her parents considered him to be a part of their family. His outgoing nature was infectious. Whether we were playing Trivial Pursuit or enjoying a friendly hand or two of blackjack at "Dino Bambino's Casino", he always brought a smile to my face. He was wonderful with our children as well. He was always ready with a piece of candy, a balloon with a hand-drawn face, or his spot on impression of Donald Duck! These are memories our family will cherish. Rest in peace Dino, you will be missed.

Our hearts go out to Dino's sisters, brother, daughters and family. Dino was a best friend and wonderful human being. His passion for things of beauty and his compassion for our fighting men and women, his joy when meeting children, his generosity with all people will be a great loss. Connie and I send our love and support along with our prayers. Dino's death leaves a huge void in all who knew him. I will always cherish my moments with Dino they were far to few. God be with you all and may He sustain you with the best memories of Dino. Love, Bob and Connie Perry
