Obituary of Marlin Glenn Weaver
Marlin Glenn Weaver, 87, of State College, died Monday, November 27, 2023, at home.
Born September 19, 1936, in Centre Hall, he was the son of the late Glenn W. and A. Marie (Walker) Weaver. On Dec. 26, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty L. Houser, who preceded him in death on July 21, 2017, after over 60 years of marriage.
He is survived by two children, Beth A. Byers and her husband, Charles, of State College and Sharon K. Miller and her husband, Matthew, of Philipsburg; one brother, Terry Weaver of Coburn; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, Lindsey Byers (Addyson and Cameron Faussette) of Boalsburg, Brandon Byers and his wife, Holly (Gayte and Jonas Fetters) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Justine Burns (Karlyn and Kasen) of Philipsburg, and Kendall Miller (Kolette Shiner) (Oakley, Emsley and Maelyn) of Frenchville. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Scott Weaver in August of 1964, a grandson, Ryan M. Lucas in December of 2015 and a great granddaughter Brynlee Burns in December of 2013.
Marlin was a 1954 graduate of State College High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. He became a certified Barber after attending Barber School in Pittsburgh in 1958.
He retired in 1996 after 35 years being a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Marlin belonged to the Grace Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Seven Mountains Bowling League where he bowled 3 perfect games and was inducted into the "SMBL Hall of Fame". He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #700 of State College, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Altoona Jaffe Shriners, the State College Elks #1600, S.C.H.S Alumni Assoc. and the Black Panther Camping Club.
He loved playing golf, so don't schedule him for anything on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from April to October!
A private graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2024 at the Houserville Cemetery.
