Obituary of Elaine F. Given

Elaine F. Given, 86, of State College, died Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born September 17, 1937, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Stanley M. and Marie T. Tomlinson Fortney. On November 17, 1962 she married William T. Given, who survives.

She is also survived by a son, Scott W. Given and his wife Lori of State College; a granddaughter, Hannah Corman and a great-grandson, Liam McCarthy.

Elaine graduated from Hamburg High School and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in Library Science from Kutztown University in 1959. She also received a master's degree in Library Science from Villanova University in 1978. She served as a Librarian for 33 years.

She was a member of the Nittany Lion Club, Mount Nittany Society, Penn State President's Club, Atherton Society, Penn State Lady Lion Club, Penn State Women's Volleyball Club, and Listed in Who's Who of American Women.

Elaine enjoyed reading and shelling. She loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states, England, Aruba, Canada, Mexico, Nova Scotia, and Panama.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family
