Obituary of Shirley L. Leopold

Shirley L. Leopold, 95, of State College, died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Foxdale Village, Anthony House.

Born January 27, 1928, in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Carl Oscar Alvar and Ida Marie Svenson Lofgren. She married Robert H. Leopold on September 6, 1958; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2005.

She is survived by a niece, Donna Lofgren of West Lafayette, IN, a nephew, Gary Lofgren (wife Heather) of Greenwood, IN, and great-nephews Joshua and Jonathan Lofgren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl O. Lofgren of Greenwood, IN.

Shirley retired as the secretary for Georgia-Pacific, a paper manufacturer.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She was involved in numerous activities at Foxdale Village, at St. Andrew's, and in the community. She enjoyed tatting, genealogy, baseball, and anything Swedish.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Ave., State College, with the Reverend Jeffrey A. Packard officiating. You may also livestream the service on the church's Facebook page by visiting https://facebook.com/standrewsc/.

Inurnment will be in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Columbarium.
