Obituary of Linda Kay Bergeman
Linda Kay Bergeman, 73, of Lemont, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born January 13, 1951, in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Iva Grace (Orr) Sherrieb. She grew up in North East, PA loving the lake and the aroma of the grape harvest. On June 28, 1980 she married George E. Bergeman at Eisenhower Chapel.
In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by her two children, Katie Hoffman (Sean) of Enola, PA and Adam Bergeman of Aurora, CO; brother, Harold Sherrieb (Lynda) of Arlington, TX; and her granddaughter, Evelyn Hoffman.
She was a graduate of North East High School and Clarion University, earning a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis on reading instruction. She began her career in education at Millcreek Township School District, moving shortly thereafter to the State College Area School District as a reading specialist. She retired in 2008 after 29 years of service.
Linda was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and numerous professional organizations.
She was an avid reader with an extensive library, enjoyed knitting, traveling and going to the beach.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Greg Milinovich officiating.
