Obituary of Judith "Judy" Louise Rutherford
Judith "Judy" Louise Rutherford, 82, of State College, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. She was born March 29, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry Ingram and Louise Wicker Gill. On January 15, 1966, Judy married Robert Burns Rutherford III. in Indianapolis, IN.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Kate Isabelle and her husband Louis, of Richlands, NC and Jill Rutherford and her partner John Hockenberry of Boalsburg, one brother Thomas Ingram Gill of Kansas City, MO. and her beloved grandchildren Max, Neva, Luke, Nora and Leda Isabelle.
She was a 1959 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. She received a bachelor's degree in education in 1963 from Butler University. Prior to raising a family, she taught elementary school in Indiana, California, Florida and Virginia.
Judy was a member of the Centre Hills Ladies on the Hill. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling and wintering in Destin, Florida.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial to follow at Spring Creek Cemetery.
