Obituary of Francis Patrick McMahon

Francis Patrick "Frank" McMahon, 85, of State College, died Friday, February 16, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born September 22, 1938, in Belfast, Ireland, he was the son of the late Francis P. and Constance Eileen Jordan McMahon.

He is survived by 4 children, Francis P. McMahon (Jill) of San Diego, CA, Patrick C. McMahon of Philadelphia, Bernadette Adair (James) of State College, and Teresa C. McMahon of Quakertown; six grandchildren, Brian Adair (Maria) and Patrick Adair of State College, Alexander and Caitlin Buehrer of Quakertown, PA, Rianna and Kane McMahon of SanDiego, CA; one great granddaughter, Esme Kuba-Adair of State College, PA; three brothers, Patrick McMahon (Kathleen) of Avalon, NJ, Peter McMahon (Mary) of Philadelphia, and Eion McMahon (Evy) of Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Mary Janzer of Philadelphia, and Constance Pocock (Roger) of Ann Arbor, MI.

Upon graduation from high school, Frank served in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a Bricklayer until 1988 when he went to work for the School District of Philadelphia where he retired as a Building Construction Inspector in 2012. After retirement, Frank moved to State College, PA where he enjoyed being with his grandchildren, sitting in the sun, watching hawks and listening to the sounds of the neighborhood children playing. Frank was an avid reader, never giving up on his pursuit of knowledge and could always be seen carrying a novel or his iPad.
