Obituary of Terri Gibson Long
Terri Gibson Long, 66, of State College, died Monday, February 19, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born on October 27, 1957, in Bellefonte. She is survived by her beloved husband Ray Edward Long. They were married on September 21, 1984, and were looking forward to celebrating their 40 year anniversary.
Terri is also survived by her father, Paul I. Gibson and his wife Lois Cook Gibson of Port Matilda and her mother, Janet O'Hara and her husband Virgil O'Hara of Ocala, FL. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by two children, Coleen Covington (Justin) of Philadelphia and Bryan E. Long of State College; two sisters, Lizette Reed of Centre Hall and Jackie Rittenhouse (Jeff) of Lewistown. She will be dearly missed by her three grandchildren, Lilianna and Anika Covington and Vincent S. Long.
Terri is a 1975 graduate of State College Area High School. She attended Bloomsburg University where she received a bachelor's degree in biology in 1979. She was an American Society for Clinical Pathology board certified Medical Technician for 42 years at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She retired in 2020.
Terri was a member of the Boalsburg Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary and the Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. She was an avid reader and viewer of mysteries, loved amusement parks and especially the thrill of a roller coaster, and had a knack for acquiring cats. Her greatest love was spoiling her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. Terri will be remembered for her generosity and dedication to family.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m., on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street., State College.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Koch Funeral Home, with Pastor Chad Oberholtzer officiating.
