I send my warmest, very late, condolences to Betty's family. I have just learned today (5-21-11) that Betty passed away earlier this year. I met Betty in State College in the late 1980s when I was an Assistant Professor at Penn State. I had admired her work for years before our meeting, but it was an honor to get to know her. Betty was an amazingly gracious and warm friend. I am so sorry that we lost touch over the years after I moved away from State College. Betty was a wonderful role model and so proud of her children and grandchildren. I will always remember and value our friendship.
