He is also survived by his children, Jennifer and her husband Peter Swistock III of Port Matilda, and Steryl C. "Bumper" Grove and his wife Olga of State College; four grandchildren, Christopher "CJ" Grove, Peter Swistock IV, Grayson Swistock, and Emily Grove; and his sister Sharon Goss and her husband John of Port Matilda. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Linda Scerbo and Harold "Bill" Grove.
He was a 1965 graduate of State College High School and a 1969 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections after a career in management at SCI Huntingdon and SCI Smithfield.
He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves, having served from 1965-1969. He was a longtime youth baseball coach in Huntingdon, PA, and former President of the Huntingdon Jaycees.
He was an avid fan of Penn State Wrestling, Penn State Football, The Pittsburgh Steelers, and sadly the Pittsburgh Pirates. He always enjoyed the opportunity to watch a match or game with his grandsons. He loved attending the sporting events of his grandchildren to cheer for them. He was an avid walker, logging several early-morning miles daily rain or shine with his K-9 companions until his recent decline in health. Bruno and Molly, the latest in a long line of Schnauzers to be a part of his family, will miss those daily adventures. He also enjoyed geocaching.
There will be no public visitation.
