Obituary of Timothy Lorenz Alwine

Timothy Lorenz "Tim" Alwine, 69, of Boalsburg, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born July 7, 1954, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Lorenz and Donnie Kuhn Alwine. On July 26, 1980 he married Guyla Anne Cump, who survives. They were blessed with 43 years of a loving marriage.

Also surviving is one son, Guy Matthew Alwine of Boalsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Feathers.

Tim was a 1972 graduate of Altoona High School. He received an associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Penn State University in 1974.

While in college he worked for the Kmart Corporation. After receiving his degree, he worked in the technical field for Bell Atlantic and Verizon, retiring in 2015 after 39 years of service. After retirement Tim worked at the Hampton Inn and more recently at the Wine and Spirits Store, retiring from there in 2022 after being diagnosed with leukemia.

He was a member of the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church.

Tim was always known for his strong work ethic. His wife and son are so proud of his courage and strength during a tough two-year battle with cancer.

He was a much beloved family man, a caring husband and father. He enjoyed gardening, disco era music, caring for his home and four beloved cats over the years.

The funeral service and burial will be private at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Michael Swimley officiating.
