Obituary of Charles Raymond Smith

Charles (Charlie) Raymond Smith, 89, of State College, PA, entered God's Kingdom on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Charlie was born in State College on December 15, 1934, son of the late Russell and Hazel Smith.

Charlie joined the Army to serve his country from 1955 to 1961. Upon leaving the military Charlie met and married Helen Jackson. As they started to raise a family, Charlie often worked two jobs to support his growing family. Upon retiring in 1999 from Tri Bio Laboratories where he was Warehouse Manager. He worked for Tennis Towing until he officially retired in 2019. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charlie was a member of the American Legion of Centre Hall.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Smith, his brother Gerald Smith and daughter Cathy Tennis.

Charlie is survived by his children Margaret Waltz (Richard), Sharon Daugherty, Chuck Smith (Sue), and Son-in-law John Tennis.

Grandchildren Christy Campbell (TJ), Mathew Waltz (Haley), James Bartley (Misty), Eric Waltz, C.W. Smith, Krystal Smith, Victoria Foltz (Nathan), Lee Daugherty.

Great Grandchildren Dominic Thompson, Ty Campbell, Ben Mehalick, Austin Waltz, Taylor Mehalick, Easton Foltz, Mila Foltz.

His sister Margaret Berger and brother Alan Smith. Many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.

Funeral service will follow at 1p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Brad Zembower officiating.

Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
