I had a lab next to MG 's during his last few years in Engineering Science and Mechanics. We had many conversations . He was a good guy.

We came to know Sharma mamu relatively later in his life, after we moved to State college in the early 2000s. Sharma mamu was invariably smiling whenever we met him at story hour or the North Gym where he brought his grandsons for martial arts, and we always spoke a few words together in Konkani. He spoke often of his wife, and how much he missed her, and how she was the "sociable one" who had tons of friends and pulled him too out of his academic shell. His other great love was Konkani food and he delighted in discussing recipes for "saarus" and "ambats" and "ghassis." A lovely, kind, gentle man, who we will always miss.
