Obituary of Helena Dakowicz
Helena Dakowicz, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in State College, PA.
She was born in August, 1931, in Zdroje, Poland. She was the oldest child of Jan and Anna Siedlecki.
Helena was a natural born leader, courageous and strong as well as deeply loving and sensitive towards her loved ones and others. After losing her father at a young age she took on the responsibility of helping her mother and caring for her younger siblings, as well as her children after becoming a widow. She also helped to raise her granddaughter after moving to the United States.
She was a woman of deep Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling and reading, especially history and classical literature.
Helena is survived by her daughter Dorota Romeo, husband Joseph, and granddaughter Annabella of State College, as well as her son Wojciech Dakowicz, wife Alicja, and grandsons Jakub and Filip of Poland.
Memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Our Lady of Victor Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with Father George Jakopac officiating.
