Obituary of Haleh Rastegary
Haleh Rastegary of State College passed away last Tuesday evening after a long illness. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister, and friend, her passing is a great loss to all blessed to know her.
Born in Abadeh, Iran, daughter to Gholamali Rastegary and Turan Sedaghatkish, Haleh came to America to pursue graduate studies in Psychology at Penn State University, earning both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. She was a researcher at Penn State University and the McGraw-Hill Companies, and an instructor at Rutgers University. During visits to family in her native country, she spoke publicly on how families could cope effectively with drug addiction, and provided personal counseling to many there.
Haleh was an amazing chef, a gifted knitter and seamstress, and a passionate gardener and traveler. She was known for her quick wit, resolve, common sense, wisdom, generosity, and most of all her big heart. Transparent in her delight and affection, everyone fortunate to know her understood how much they meant to her.
She is survived by her husband Michael Krane, of State College; their son Nika Krane (Cristina Grimaldi), of West Chester, PA; grandson Luca Krane; her brother, Masood Rastegary, of Abadeh, Iran; her sister Monir (Ali Sedaghatkish), of Toronto, Canada; and countless loving family and friends scattered across the world. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
