Obituary of Delphine DeVittorio Smith
Delphine DeVittorio Smith died peacefully at her home on June 8, 2024.
Born in Ridgway, PA, she was the daughter of Carl and Rose DeVittorio. She graduated from Ridgway High School and Vassar College. She married Perry R. Smith (dec.1990) in 1948.
A resident of State College since 1962, Delphine was active in several community organizations, serving as board member or officer of the American Association of University Women, Friends of Schlow Library, the former Auxiliary to the Centre Community Hospital, the United Fund College Area and the Centre County Branch of the American Cancer Society. She was a docent at the Palmer Art Museum and was employed at Penn State in the State College office of Continuing Education and with Penn State Research, Magazine.
Delphine is survived by her daughter Julia R. Smith MD (Richard Head) of Port Angeles, WA; sons, Harry H. Smith (Kathleen) of Solon, OH and Carlo D. Smith (Shawn) of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A burial will take place at Ridgway Cemetery.
