Obituary of Phyllis Witmer Kerlin

Phyllis Witmer Kerlin, 101, long time resident of Centre Hall, died June 21, 2024 at Juniper Village Wellspring in State College. Phyllis was born in April 1923 in Bellefonte, PA, firstborn of Ralph C and Grace Corl Witmer of Buffalo Run Valley. In April 1946 she married William H "Bill" Kerlin, who died June 2002. Bill and Phyl raised three children, and especially enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Cape Cod, Mass. Phyllis was a hairdresser and a homemaker who cared deeply for her family, and was a longtime member of St Luke Lutheran Church, Centre Hall. Phyllis was predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Emmett A Witmer, S Gale Witmer, and Vance V Witmer. Phyllis was also predeceased by a son-in-law, Melvin Podwysocki. She is survived by her sister, Kaye Meyer of Parkesburg, PA. She is also survived by her children, Patricia Podwysocki of Bradenton, FL, Bill Kerlin Jr. and wife Kim, of Sarasota, FL, and Jim Kerlin and his partner Mike Morrison of Centre Hall, PA. Grandchildren Steve and Matt Podwysocki, Jill Valenti, Todd Kerlin, and four great grandchildren. The family expresses gratitude to Juniper Village and Grane Hospice for Phyllis's care. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with Pastor Lauretta Dietrich officiating.
