Obituary of Margaret Solic

Margaret M. Solic, 95, of State College, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Centre. Born January 18, 1917, in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Mikula Majer. On November 22, 1945, she married John Solic who died on June 17, 2007. She is survived by five children, Carol Solic Whittaker of State College, Marjorie Solic Cobb and her husband, Chris, of Alexandria, VA, Mary Ann Solic of Manhattan Beach, CA, John J Solic and his wife, Cindy, of State College, James F. Solic and his wife, Diane, of Encinitas, CA, and a brother, Joseph Majer, and his wife, Flossie of Johnstown, ten grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Lauren, John and his wife, Samantha, Katie and her husband, Mike, Peggy, Chris and his wife, Sarah, Steve, Betsy and Kevin, four great grandchildren, Riley, Colin, Andrew and Maddi. She was predeceased by a brother Andrew and a sister Thelma and a grandson, Tim. Margaret was a 1934 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. She was employed for several years at Penn State in the admissions office. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Margaret enjoyed feeding her family and friends and was well known for her pies and baked goods. She also made beautiful quilts and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Monsignor David Lochard officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Victory Capitol Campaign Fund, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, Pa 16801
