Obituary of Lisa Subler
Lisa Subler, wife, mother, daughter, artist and poet passed away at the age of 76 on May 21, 2012 in State College, PA.
To celebrate her lifetime filled with love, laughter, art, poetry and more laughter, a memorial life celebration is planned for Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 1pm at the State College Friends School.
Born Alice Ellen Carpenter on September 12, 1935 in Berea, Ohio to Harold and Bernice Carpenter and a family of 3 older brothers, Lisa was raised in Lexington, Ohio. A high school class valedictorian, Lisa went on to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where she was a theatre major, Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. It was at one of her collegiate theatre performances where she caught the eye and heart of Edward Pierre Subler. Shortly after Lisa's graduation they married and remained together in life for the next 56 years.
After living in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois, Lisa settled with Ed and her three children in Pittsburgh, PA from 1968-1996. While in Pittsburgh, she was a passionate artist, active member and manager of a number art leagues and art galleries in the Pittsburgh area.
In 1996 Lisa and Ed retired to Catawba Island, Ohio to be near the waters of Lake Erie. They then moved on to State College, PA in 2001 to be closer to their grandchildren and where Lisa excelled at extending a legacy of art and laughter to a new generation.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward; her sons, Leo and Scott; daughter, Dodie and three grandchildren Will, Lucy and Ivy Subler.
