Obituary of Ronald Brokloff
Ronald D. Brokloff, 83, of State College, died peacefully at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Sunday, June 10, 2012 after a short battle with cancer during which he maintained his dry sense of humor and learned the hometown of every nurse.
Born May 24, 1929, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Henry Michael and Mabel Makin Brokloff. He married Anastasia Karalewitz on April 17, 1959, who survives at home.
He is also survived by a son, Ned A. Brokloff, of Ellicott City, MD
Ronald was previously employed by Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, WVA till 1966. He resided in Cumberland, MD until then. He was the Supervisor of the Electronics Shop in the Chemistry Department at Penn State University from 1966 till his retirement in 1991. He resided in State College until his death.
He was an amateur radio operator at K3AME and active with the local Marfan's Support Group and Alzheimer's Support Group.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Hindman Funeral Home, 146 Chandler Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 at the Hindman Funeral Home with the Rev. Benton McKee officiating.
Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050.
