Obituary of Robert Briscoe
Robert E. O. Briscoe, 83, of State College died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at his residence. He was born April 25, 1929, the son of the late F. Lindsay and Mary A. Patten Briscoe in West Plains, MO. On August 30, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, he married Marion Crenshaw, who survives. He was graduated from Missouri State University with a BS in ED. degree in Spanish in 1951 and joined the USAF where he served four years as an Intelligence Analyst during the Korean Conflict. After service as an analyst in Civil Service in Texas, he and his family moved to State College in 1960 where he was employed by HRB for 30 years.
Bob was a 50-year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and especially enjoying reading about WWII and military aircraft. He was a talented wood worker, designing and crafting wooden toys. His many other interests included antique cars, coin collecting, and photography.
He was a member and past adjutant of the State College VFW, a member of the State College American Legion Post 245, and a member of BPOE Elks #1600.
He is survived by three children, Deborah E. Graves and her husband, Dale, of State College, John T. and his wife, Ann B. Briscoe, of Thaxon, VA, and R. Kevin and his wife , Laurie B. Briscoe of Philipsburg, PA: three sisters and one brother, Mary Riesberg of Rocheport, MO, Elizabeth Briscoe of West Plains, Mo. Priscilla Briscoe of Brooklyn, NY, and James Briscoe and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Longmont, CO: six grandchildren, Emma, Patrick, Michael, Daniel, Benjamin, and Andrew Briscoe: Seven great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, John L., Larry D., William R. and Angaline Briscoe.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric J. Shaffer officiating.
