Our dearest friends, My mother, brothers, husband, and I feel very bonded to you in this time of sadness - as our families were brought together at Mount Nittany Medical Center under such difficult and heart wrenching circumstances. We have each spent many years caring for men we knew as extraordinary and inspirational...yet simultaneously incredibly benevolent and kind to those around them. How grateful we were that you were able to share with us how to work with the hospital administration to bring hospice to Len in his last few days there. We wanted deeply to pay our respects at the service for Hersch, but unfortunately fate did not allow this...dad passed away in the early hours Wed morning, and mom developed severe bronchitis. Because mom (Lisa) has been so ill, we decided to wait until the spring to hold a life celebration service for dad. In the meantime, the family has been coming together with mom, supporting one another and sharing our memories and thoughts of Leonard. In these gatherings we often think of each of you. The CDT tribute to Hersch was truly lovely and very moving. We wish you love, hugs, and comfort, Heather and Steve, Lisa, Clay, and Fritz Herzog
