Obituary of Jeremy "Douglas" Wise
Jeremy "Douglas" Russell Wise Jeremy Russell Wise, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, formerly from Boalsburg, PA, died unexpectedly on May 6th, 2013. Jeremy was born August 23rd, 1983 in Philadelphia, PA to Dan Howard Wise and Kathleen Kirwan Wise. Jeremy graduated from State College Area High School in 2002 and attended Robert Morris University in Moon Township, PA where he graduated with his degree in finance in December 2006. Jeremy was a project engineer for Geo Con Environmental Barrier Corporation, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. Jeremy was an accomplished and committed athlete. While at State High he played both football and baseball. His dedication to excellence earned him the most courageous athlete award for his work on and off the football field. His commitment was rewarded with a football scholarship to Robert Morris where he was a four year letterman for the Colonials. He also served as a graduate assistant for Colonials during his final semester where he discovered his love of coaching. He spent a season as an assistant coach for North Catholic High School and returned home to help lead his alma mater to the 2009 PIAA State Championship game. An avid outdoorsman, Jeremy loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Effesee Hunting Camp in Crossforks, Pa. When not traveling for work, Jeremy loved to travel for pleasure but never strayed far from his family and friends. Jeremy loved live music and in recent years, taught himself to play the guitar and some of his happiest moments were picking with his close friends back home. Jeremy is survived by his parents, Dan and Kathleen, of Boalsburg, his sister, Erin Fisher and her husband Chad, of State College, his paternal grandparents Helen and Howard Wise of Spring Mills, PA, his aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Wise if State College, PA and Dirk and Michelle Wise of Spring Mills, PA, his cousins, Ryan and Bethany Wise of Baltimore, MD, Michael and Jennifer Wise of Spring Mills, PA, Brett Wise of Charlotte, NC, Philip Wise of Forest, MS and Connor Wise of Clemson, SC, and his godfather Jerry Burton of Schwenksville, PA, as well as many friends. Jeremy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Catherine Kirwan of Trenton, NJ, his infant twin brothers Jason & Joshua Wise, his godmother, Marianne Burton of Schwenksville, PA and his uncle, William Dexter of Gaylord, MI. A celebration of Jeremy's life will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Theodore F. Schneider, Bishop Emeritus officiating. There will be a one hour viewing prior to the service. A viewing will be held Friday May 17th from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm also at the funeral home. All are welcome to join us in celebrating our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeremy Wise Football Scholarship at State College Area High School Business Office, 131 W. Nittany Ave. State College, PA 16801 or the Jeremy Wise Football Scholarship at the Robert Morris University Office of Institutional Advancement, 6001 University Blvd. Moon Township, PA 15108.
