Obituary of Joanne Pytel
Joanne S. Pytel, 75, of Pine Grove Mills, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born August 16, 1937, in Windber, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Suzanna Boruch Matta. On May 26, 1962, she married George Pytel, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Daniel G. Pytel and his wife, Anissa, of Julian and one daughter, Lydia B. Walker of Enola; two sisters, Martha Matta and Kathleen Christner, both of Windber; three brothers, Joseph Matta and his wife, Linda, of Tampa, FL, David Matta of Port Matilda and John Matta of Nokefbille, VA; three grandchildren, Tiffany L. Walker, Nicholas and Olivia Pytel. She was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Marie Smolko. She was a 1956 graduate of Windber High School. Joanne was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the Ferguson Township Lioness Club. She volunteered for the Lupus Support Group, the Ferguson Township Elementary School special students and Centre County Youth Services. One of her favorite things was spending time vacationing with her family every year in Chincoteague, VA. Visitation will be 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the funeral home, with the Reverend Neal Dady officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windber. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church, 820 Westerly Pkwy, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
