Obituary of Ronald Krout
Ronald Frank Krout, 73, of State College, died Friday, August 9, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born August 29, 1939, in Tusseyville, he was the son of the late Mathew S. and Pauline E. Yarnell Krout Jr. On October 12, 1968 he married Nancy L. Thompson, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, Norman C. Krout and his wife, Lorrie Jean, of Schwenksville, a brother, Eugene Krout and his wife, Susan, of Lemont and three grandchildren; Erica, Tyler, and Nicholas Krout. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Krout Sr.
He was a 1957 graduate of Penns Valley High School. He worked on a farm in Brush Valley with his father until 1972. In 1972 he was employed by Penn State Farm Operation Services as a group leader doing farming research. He retired in 2001 with thirty years of service. He worked from 2001-2011 for the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences for the Penn State Corn Testing Program as a technician.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a community unified sportsmen.
He helped take care of the Hess Softball Field. He played and managed softball and won an over forty-five year olds state championship.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.
Ronald loved to hunt deer and turkey. He loved the mountains. He enjoyed having picnics with his friends Joan Pecht and Nevin Dutrow at their camp in Krise Valley.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 14, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College with the Rev. P. Stevens Lynn officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
