Obituary of Ruth Krebs

Ruth M. Krebs, 77, of State College, died Monday, August 12, 2013, at the Village at Penn State Atrium, State College. Born March 3, 1936, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Ruth McClure Organ. On December 30, 1965 she married Donald L. Krebs, who preceded her in death on December 13, 2000. She is survived by one step-daughter, Sandra Cassady and her husband, Harold, of Pennsylvania Furnace; one step-son, Curt Krebs of Boalsburg; one sister, JoAn Smith and her husband, Gerald, of Canton, OH.; Four step-grandchildren, Jason Cassady and his wife, Beth, of La Vernia, TX., Christy Cassady of Woodbridge, VA., Ella and Leila Krebs both of State College. Ruth graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Penn State University in 1960. She retired from Penn State University after 35 years as a drafting and Photograph Assistant. Ruth was a member of the Resurrection Orthodox Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Don Krebs Quartet, the Corvette Club, the State College Weavers Guild, the State College Chapter of the American Sewing Guild, Centre Pieces Quilt Guild, the Shooting Club and the Essence 2 Community Choir, singing African American Choral Music. She traveled to South Africa with this choir. Visitation will be 2 until 4 p.m., on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street., State College. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeremiah Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
