Obituary of Ellen Poorman

Ellen Louise Poorman, 92, of Pleasant Gap, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at The Fairways at Brookline Village, State College. She was born on August 3, 1921, in State College, as the daughter of the late Roger B. and Anna E. Shank Poorman. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Pete Trynosky and two nephews, Ronald Trynosky of Perkiomenville and Michael Trynosky of Colchester, Ct. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Poorman Trynosky. Ellen was a 1939 graduate of State College High School. She was employed as a secretary in the Physics Department at Penn State University from 1939 until 1942. From 1942 until retirement in 1972, she was employed as a secretary for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare in State College, Harrisburg/Reading, Beltsville and Bethesda, MD. There will be no public visitation. Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
