Obituary of Budd Brooks
Budd L. Brooks, 78, of State College died Saturday February 8, 2014, at Hearthside in State College PA. Born on August 31, 935, he was the son of the late, Emmett and Mary Bloom Brooks. On April 21, 1956, he married Carole J. Markle Brooks in Pleasant Gap PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Gregg Brooks (Laura Brown) of Maudlin SC; Richard Brooks (wife Donna) of Gardner MA; Lynn Brooks (wife Nancy) of Jonestown PA; Kimberly Brooks Filkins (husband Gary) of State College; and Karen Brooks English (husband Jon) of Camp Hill PA. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert Brooks, and a sister, Larue Fohringer.
In addition to his parents, Budd was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and Bernard and sisters: Pauline Shivery Struble, Beulah Struble and Irene Parks. He also was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Deborah Morgan Brooks.
Budd graduated from Centre Hall High School in 1953. He was employed for 28 years in the Ford dealerships of State College. He later branched out independently buying and selling cars for about 10 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in State College and lifetime member of the State College Elks.
Earlier in life, he enjoyed golfing. He was a passionate fan of the Steelers Football, Pirate Baseball and Penn State Football teams. Most of all, he loved being with family and attending family gatherings. He was a quiet and kind person with a ready smile for everyone.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S Atherton Street, State College, PA, from 10 to 11 am. A memorial service will follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Budd L. Brooks to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2221 N Oak Lane, State College PA.
