Obituary of Barbara Anthony

Barbara Anthony, 88, formerly of State College, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Valley View Retirement Community. Born on July 13, 1925 in Newfane, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Lorraine Oakes. She graduated from Akron High School and the Albright Art School in Buffalo, New York. She married the late Dr. Adam Anthony in 1949. They divorced in 1986. She is survived by one daughter, Heather Anthony of Boulder, CO, one son, Brian Anthony and his wife, Christine, of Centre Hall; two grandchildren, Adam and Sarah Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Tyler. Barbara was a talented artist, musician, and seamstress. She was employed as the manager of the Art Alliance Gallery in Lemont for many years prior to moving to Valley View in 2002. Guests will be received at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College, on Saturday, February 15 from 4:00-5:30 pm.
