Obituary of Daniel Derabasse

Daniel John Derabasse, 21, of Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home on February 28, 2014. Dan was born in State College on May 19, 1992. He attended State College Area High School and Grace Prep High School. Dan enjoyed working outdoors as a landscaper. He enjoyed mountain biking, playing soccer, reading, weightlifting, cooking, nutrition, physical fitness, cars and family trips. He also enjoyed playing drums, video games (through all hours of the night) and listening to all kinds of music. Dan was a bright, loving, compassionate son, brother and friend. Just in the past week he adopted a stray neighborhood cat that has become part of the family. His sister Kristin remembers best her times with "Bub" when they found humor in everyday situations. He will be sadly, deeply missed by all. Dan is survived by his parents, Richard and Marnie Derabasse, his sister Kristin Derabasse of Charlotte, NC, his grandmother Marjery Derabasse of Bedford, his uncle and aunt Jack and Karen McIntyre and niece Heather McIntyre of Monroeville, uncle and aunt Richard and Penny McIntyre of Bedford, uncle Brian Derabasse, also of Bedford, and other family and friends. Dan is preceded in death by his grandfather Arthur Derabasse, and his grandfather and grandmother J. William McIntyre and Katherine McIntyre, all of Bedford. Public visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on March 5 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College, PA. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to NAMI, P.O. Box 62596, Baltimore, MD 21264-2596 (online at www.nami.org), or to Centre Country PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
