Obituary of Elizabeth Heebner
Elizabeth "Betty" Heebner passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2014, to be reunited with her husband of 62 years MacDonald Heebner Jr., in the house of our heavenly Father. She was 93 years old.
Betty was born May 14, 1920 in Scranton, the daughter of Frank & Elizabeth McDonnell. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Frank McDonnell, and sister, Eleanor Montandon.
Betty graduated from Clarks Summit High School in 1938 and from Scranton Business College in 1939. Betty and Don married on Sept. 3, 1938 and enjoyed years of dancing with the Centre Squares, traveling the country in their motorhome and summer visits to Bethany Beach with dear friends. Although she enjoyed many hobbies such as needlework, baking and reading, Betty's greatest joy came from the time spent with her loving family - Her children MacDonald Heebner III and his wife, Donna, of Fairfield, Sally Rock and her husband, Sam, of San Antonio, TX., Karl and his wife, Tammy, of Bellefonte, and Bonnie Tarman and Doug Wagner of State College; her grandchildren, MacDonald Heebner IV, Tessa Tripi, Jeremy Heebner, Allegra Heebner, Sam Rock III, Sarah Nichols, Josh Heebner, John Heebner, Steven Strauser and Emilie Tarman, their spouses and fiancé's; ten amazing great-grandchildren, Ceilia, Tom, Joe and John Tripi, Elias Heebner, Jasper and Jude Rock, Danny and Elizabeth Nichols and Kyla Heebner. Betty also shared wonderful relationships with her many nephews and nieces, who were very special to her. She was constantly surrounded by the love and support of this family and in return she enriched each of their lives with life lessons, happy memories and unending love.
Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m., on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W Beaver Ave, State College, in the church's Martin Room. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverend Joel Blunk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 313 State College, PA 16804 or the Geisinger Medical Center, 100 North Academy Avenue Danville, PA 17822.
