Dr. Samuel Curtis was one of the most caring, dedicated, problem-solving, and result-oriented leaders in agricultural and extension education I have known in over 40 years in the profession. At the regional and national levels, he provided timely and bold leadership in helping both agricultural education and extension to achieve higher levels of greatness. A case in point, diversity and inclusion is beginning to make some progress in government, universities, private sector, and other entities. Dr. Curtis valued diversity and inclusion and was one of the first chairpersons in the profession to diversify his faculty at PSU. He provided extraordinary
leadership in recruiting some of the most talented scholars in the profession to join the PSU faculty. Dr. Curtis was a true friend, colleague, mentor, and father figure for many professionals in agricultural and extension education. We all loved, respected, and valued him highly.
