Obituary of Virginia Labenski
Virginia Grace Labenski, 88, of State College, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born March 6, 1926, in Donora, she was the daughter of the late Herman S. White Sr. and Gertrude Cummings White. She married John Joseph Labenski who preceded her in death on June 19, 1979.
She is survived by two children, David Lewis and his wife, Mary-Ann, of Parsippany, NJ. and Debbie Witzig and her husband, Marc, of Camp Hill; three step children, John Labenski and his wife, Beth Ann Johnson, of McAlevys Fort, James Labenski of Reading and Richard Labenski and his wife, Sue, of Spruce Creek; one brother, Herman S. White Jr. and his wife, Marge, of Monongahela; six grandchildren, Ben Labenski and his wife, Kim, Stephen Lewis and his wife, Sarah, Christie Witzig and her husband, Ryan Bowley, Melissa Cooper and her husband, Todd, Monica Wamsley and her husband, Aaron and Mallory Witzig; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lewis, Ethan Cooper and Alexandra Lewis. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel White.
Virginia was a graduate of Donora High School. She was also a graduate of Gettysburg College, Homestead Hospital School of Nursing and Lock Haven University.
She retired after 28 years of service as a registered nurse for the State College Area School District.
She was a member of Mount Nittany United Methodist Church. .
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m., on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 East Branch Road, State College, with the Pastor Edward Preston officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
