I belatedly am extending my condolences. I had the sincere pleasure of getting knowing Terrell when I was a student at LHU in the
mid-1970's. I was an RA under him. We both came to Penn State. He always greeted me with his big smile every time our paths crossed. He is certainly missed at Penn State

Dear Carla and family,
We just learned of Terrell's passing after battling cancer. We are so sorry for your loss - Terrell was such a great human being - caring, intelligent, such a great sense of humor, and humble in spite of all he had accomplished. I think Ken would say he was probably the best "hire" he ever made. Penn State was certainly a better place because of his having been there. God bless and keep you during the difficult time.
With many fond memories, Ken & Chris Zirkle

The impact that Dr. Jones had on our lives both personally and professionally is too vast to capture in this format. He was our mentor and cheerleader. He always did things with class, humanity and humor.
On a personal note, I have to share with you that at every step of my (Jhan professional career) I called him to get his thoughts. His opinions meant the world to me.
Rest in peace, Dr. Jones...

I worked in the Division of Campus Life back in the late 1980's early 1990's and remember Terrell as having a great personality and sense of humor. He was quick to laugh, and he had a true gift for making others laugh and feel welcome. Most of all, though, he had a deep commitment for making this world a better place for everyone. RIP, Terrell. You worked hard, did a great job, and a lot of people grew because of your efforts. You will be sorely missed, but are surely enjoying the blessing of God's gift of eternal rest in peace.

Dr. Jones was a great man.
Professionally, as a proud member of the Office of Graduate Educational Equity Programs, I am honored to have been part of his quest to ensure Penn State is an educationally equitable higher learning institution.
Personally, I will miss our conversations. I recall my first conversation in his office lasting two and a half hours (mind you, we were only supposed to meet for a half hour). He had so much to share (stories, wisdom, etc.).
I would like to thank his family for sharing him with the Penn State community. Know that we are here for you.
We've truly lost one of the greats. It will not be possible to fill his shoes . . . we can only hope the next person at the helm of Penn State's equity operations does his legacy justice.

To Carla and Family,
I will always remember Terrell and cherish our friendship. I met him my first year as a graduate student when he spoke to a class I was taking and then as an adjunct. His story on life and multiculturalism were inspiring.
Then I got to know him more personally when I worked with Hank McCoullum and the Bunton-Waller Scholars and when I became a member of Albright-Bethune. I believe I enjoyed I enjoyed the themes and stories he presented to new students each year more than the students.
I enjoyed his famous fish frying and smoking skills. They were second to none.
I will keep in touch.

Thanks for inspiring us to be our best to see things with a deeper vision and to put stereotypes to the test. You had a God ordained gift to motivate the masses. What a joy it was to work with Terrell while he was at LHU. Each day was filled with care and concern for students and our staff. His love of life was tremendous. His passing was a shock and deeply saddens all of us who worked with him. May we live what Terrell taught us and demonstrated every moment, difference bring strength not separation. May all of his professional family join together to bring comfort to his wife, children and sister and brothers during their time of great sadness.

Memories
By Doris Washington
I'll think of you
As the winter snow falls at night,
And all is calm.
I'll think of you
As the flowers blossom,
Preparing for the spring.
I'll think of you
As autumn makes its way,
After long beautiful summer days.
I'll think of you
As seasons pass each year,
Reminding me of wonderful times
We've shared.
And now that you're with Him,
There'll always be the memories to cherish.
I'll think of you.

Dear Carla and Jones family,
I worked for Terrell while attending graduate school in '79. We shared many interesting conversations and scotch! I remember meeting you and the kids in Washington, DC some years ago and as always, Terrell had his keen wit and humor to taunt and tease me. I last talked to Terrell this time last year and it was though we were still sitting around shooting the breeze back in East Halls. I will always be grateful to this kind and loving soul and forever remember him fondly.

We are so sad for your loss, this has been such a shock to everyone. Our hearts just go out to each of you. One thing I want you to know, Terrell like so many of us meant so much to me. He was my mentor, my hero and my friend. Working w/him I learned to have fun, be professional, and he educated me well on so many levels. Bill loved talking to him about fishing, and their little jokes they would tell one another. The one memory I'll never forget--a couple days after he hired me to work in East Halls as his staff assistant. . .he said "Did you just just move from Walton's Mountain?" Then he smiled that big smile. . .You all will be in our prayers and thoughts. Love, and blessings, Bill & diana (skeet) Moore
