Dear Crean Family,
I remember the first time I met Jack, and I was truly impressed by his personaility. This past year, through the Roar Store and the Finance Department, I found that Jack was not only impressive in social settings, but a great mind as well.
When I first heard the news of his passing, I was speechless. I could not believe that this event had actually occurred. Jack was such an intelligent, charasmatic, charmingly sarcastic, and all around amazing person. He was someone that people gravitated towards, and he will be so truly missed.
Although I could not get back to State College for the ceremony, I was there in spirit. I know this time is hard for you all, but I pray for the best in your home. I am the type to think that everything happens for a reason, so I hope that through your situation, you can reach others who may go through common circumstance. Again, your family is in my prayers. Rest in peace, Jack!

To the Crean Family, my sincere condolences to each and every one of you. Jack was an irreplaceable character that left a mark every one of our lives. It was a pleasure to grow up along side of him and I hope you can see how many he was truly loved by.
Jack,
There are not words to accurately describe your upbeat, sarcastic, loving, incredible charm that you had about you. From the first day you walked into the 8th grade Hallway it was impossible to not notice you. Wherever you were, there was laughter and everyone was happy. No teacher ever forgot your name or your affectionate smirk that could get you out of anything. You had such a gift at making even the most grim situations somehow pleasant. There was no question you didn't know the answer too and no problem you couldn't fix. Your drive to succeed was so strong, there is not a doubt in my mind that you could do anything. To this day I still do not know how you managed to charm over every teacher and parent we ever met but you did it with ease. You were one of a kind Jack and my heart breaks trying to imagine the world without you in it.
I hope you have the best view from up there and can keep an eye out for all of us. I can't imagine having a better angel watching out for me than you. I'm sure you already took over all of the accounting jobs up in heaven. You are forever in our minds and in our hearts. You are so so loved Jack. Rest in peace. You deserve it. Love you always.

Almost a week later it's still hard for me to grasp the fact that you're gone, but I feel extremely blessed to have known you. All of this made me truly realize the immense impact that you not only had on my life but the lives of so many other people. Not a moment was passed with you without a smile on my face even when you were insulting me and that's extremely remarkable. You were someone who made everyone feel included, welcome, and happy, and that's something that you will always leave behind. So thank you for everything you brought to my life: you have made a serious impact. You are missed beyond belief but I know that you are looking down on all of us with that Jack Crean smirk and I know you're in a better place now. Rest easy jack, until I see you again.
To the Crean family I send my sincere condolences. No one should have to go through this, especially not such amazing individuals as yourselves. You are always in my thoughts.

To the Crean family, I can only hope that I never feel the profound grief that you are experiencing, and offer my deepest condolences and prayers. No one deserves to feel this magnitude of pain. The community, myself included, is here with open arms to help in any way we can.
To Jack, I hope you can hear the prayers and thoughts that are constantly running around my brain. I cannot count the amount of times that Kailey and I have laughed just remembering small things you said to make us smile. Just 10 minutes ago, we were cracking up with tears in our eyes about the time when you sincerely asked someone to "tell you more" about their life, and we all thought you were just kidding. I miss our little competitions in class, gripping our seats to see what the right answer was to the clicker questions, walking down Burrowes St. as you step on my heels and I swing my backpack in your way. People looked at us like we were crazy, but you weren't embarrassed. Most of all I want to thank you, Jack. You taught me to appreciate everyone I love, and to live my life with purpose and drive, just as you did. You gave the world enough gifts in your short 18 years than some can in 80. This sorrow felt by the entire town is borne from the appreciation of your gifts. I can't even start to imagine how successful you would've been -- you had larger than life dreams, a charm that could've made even the most stubborn men on Wallstreet cave, and a sense of humor that was full of intelligence and quick wit. You were the best. There will never be a day that you won't make me smile. Love you forever, Jack.

My first encounter with Jack was when he had the unenviable task of having to win me over as my daughter's first real boyfriend. He skillfully worked the room as only Jack could. First we discussed sports, then school. Even though he was a Patriots fan, I was impressed. What was clearly evident was that my daughter had picked a sharp kid. What was even more impressive was how attentive he was to Julia. I could see he cared for her and vice-versa. Jack, for the time being, those in heaven will get to enjoy your energy, intelligence and sense of humor. Just remember to save some of those stories for when the rest of us get there.

To the Crean family- I can't even imagine what you're going through right now, and you all are constantly in my thoughts in prayers.
Jack, I remember the very first time that I met you. You walked into my eighth grade homeroom and I had heard that there was a new kid on our team and I was so excited to meet him. Our teacher assigned me as your "tour guide" to show you around the school, and then I found out that you and I had identical schedules. After spending every single class every day with you that year, we became close friends and you undoubtedly had so much charisma. You never missed a moment to make fun of me even when we weren't close and would always make me laugh. You were one of the most hardworking guys, and bound to be so successful. You put a smile on so many faces and left an impression on everyone you interacted with. You are loved and missed by everyone in the community, and I hope you have found your peace.

To the Crean Family whom I consider a family of my own: I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Jack was, and still is, still so much more than a best friend. He was a great person who made everyone around him smile. He was a determined businessman who--as much as we didn't want to admit it--we knew was going to accomplish great things in his career. He was a confidant who would listen and help you through problems that you were having, all the while putting your problems before his own.
Jack was my brother. I love him as I would love a family member of my own, and no words can express the longing I have to talk to my brother again. I know he is in a better place now, smiling down and looking over us all. You will be missed and loved more than you know, and you will be with me wherever I go. Everything is now for you. I miss your witty remarks and big personality. Your constant jokes were such a wonderful part of who you are, but you also knew when to be serious. One of my most fond memories of you was when we were sitting in psych talking & you told me I deserved better than some of the things I was putting myself through. And if you made my life better in the few and far between brief encounters I had with you, I want you to positively know that you have made more people than you know happier people on this Earth simply from the time they spent in your presence. The world wasn't done being blessed by you, which is what makes me the most sad. If you had made me smile, and then gone on somewhere else in the world never to see me again, that wouldn't have been so bad in my eyes. You had so many more smiles, laughs and memories to share with so many people and that's what truly, physically breaks my heart. You would have had such a happy life, I am so thoroughly positive of that, based simply on the happiness you brought to others. Jack,
The world won't be the same without you man. I know we weren't close friends but I'll never forget laughing about the player's club from lacrosse freshman year. I know many of us will remember losing a classmate so soon, and I'm disappointed I won't be able to attend the services, but your family and those closer to you than I was are in my prayers. God bless.

Words can not fully embrace the intense grief that I am feeling. Jack was my daughter's first love. He spent countless hours at our home and we shared many meals and happy times with this precious boy. We will always have the memories in our minds and our hearts. My sincere condolences go out to his family; Kathi, Dave and Katie, as well as all of the friends here in State college who will miss him everyday. Jack, may you rest in peace in the loving arms of or lord and savior Jesus Christ. I hope to see you smirking when I reach the pearly gates....
